Learned Fragility

A Poem

So this head of rocks and withering
under Sisyphean glares
a remorse that bounces off
the scandalized myth
just goes a lot lower
Twinned with gasps of influenza
protected by a surgical knife
but then rejected in favor of the dispute
that sinks the chair, the blanket,
the fourth fucking cup of coffee
as if I can carry on the argument without it
This feeling can disabuse you
of the thinking you’ve got it right
A sunk diatribe of longing
holed well below the waterline
and in the roads of self-reflection
the beer goes on calling
never letting up for a second
