A Poem

Fully ignoring Medea’s nurse’s
injunction
I go overboard in
this ship of emotional tension
Hauling the lines tight
before trying to go anywhere
the staples of the dance
challenge the stopping
alongside this road
The signs don’t do the direction
any kind of justice
but we’re tight now
we’re acknowledging the sanctity
of one emotion or other
Drowning in the draft
shooting the foot from underneath
myself
I question
every bleeding thing
